Terms of Service
These terms are the agreement between you and idlepay. By installing the extension, signing in, or running a campaign, you agree to them. Please read them — especially the sections on earnings, acceptable use, and liability.
1. About idlepay
idlepay ("idlepay", "we", "us") turns the "thinking…" spinner in your AI coding assistant into a single, clearly-labeled sponsored line. Advertisers bid for that placement, and idlepay shares the resulting revenue with the people who show it ("earners"). The website, dashboard, API, and editor extension are together the "Service".
2. Eligibility & accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and able to enter a binding contract.
- You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity under it.
- Provide accurate information and keep it current — especially details we need to pay you.
- One person or entity per account, unless we agree otherwise in writing.
3. Earnings & payouts (earners)
- You keep 50% of the revenue your credited impressions and clicks generate, calculated at the live bid price. We may change the revenue-share percentage prospectively with notice.
- An impression is credited only for a sponsored line shown during a genuine AI wait-state while your session is active. We never manufacture waits, and neither may you.
- Balances shown in the status bar and dashboard are estimates in real time, not a guarantee, and are finalized after our anti-fraud review.
- You can cash out via our payout provider once your balance passes the US$10 minimum.
- You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn. We may require tax information before paying you.
- We may withhold, reverse, or forfeit earnings we reasonably believe were generated through fraud, automation, or a breach of these terms.
4. Acceptable use
To keep the marketplace fair for advertisers and earners alike, you agree not to:
- Inflate, fake, or manufacture impressions or clicks — including scripting, bots, click farms, idling to farm impressions, or any attempt to generate credit without a genuine active coding session.
- Interfere with, probe, or circumvent our anti-fraud limits, rate limits, or the device-identification system.
- Reverse-engineer, tamper with, or misuse the Service beyond what its open-source license permits, or use it to harm others.
- Misrepresent your identity, use another person's account, or create accounts to evade limits or bans.
- Use the Service unlawfully or to display illegal, infringing, or harmful content.
5. Advertiser terms
- You are responsible for your ad content and must hold all rights to it. Ads must be lawful, truthful, and must not be deceptive, malicious, or infringing.
- Campaign charges are billed through our payment processor. Amounts for impressions and clicks already delivered are non-refundable except where required by law.
- We may review, reject, pause, or remove any ad or campaign at our discretion — for example, for policy, quality, or legal reasons.
- Performance figures are provided as reporting; delivery depends on real earner wait-time and is not guaranteed.
6. The extension & your editor
What the extension does — and doesn't. To show sponsored lines, idlepay may modify your local AI assistant's spinner. This change is reversible at any time from the status bar or by uninstalling, which restores your editor to its original state. The extension has no filesystem, workspace, terminal, or environment access and never reads your code.
You are responsible for complying with the terms of the editors and tools you use idlepay alongside. idlepay is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Anthropic, Microsoft, Cursor, or any other tool it runs alongside. All third-party names and logos belong to their respective owners.
7. Intellectual property
The idlepay name, logo, website, and dashboard are owned by idlepay and protected by intellectual-property laws. The editor extension is distributed under its stated open-source license, which governs your rights in that software. Nothing here grants you rights to our brand beyond linking to us.
8. Suspension & termination
You may stop using idlepay at any time — pause from the status bar, uninstall the extension, or ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if we're required to by law, or to protect the Service, other users, or advertisers. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as earnings adjustments, disclaimers, and liability limits) will survive.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that earnings will reach any particular amount. Earnings are estimates, not a guarantee.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, idlepay and its operators accept no liability whatsoever arising from or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service — including direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, lost profits, lost earnings, or lost data — even if advised of the possibility of such damages. You use the Service entirely at your own risk.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold idlepay harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the Service, your ad content, or your breach of these terms or of applicable law.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use idlepay after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which idlepay is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction, except where mandatory local consumer law gives you other rights.
